The good news is that the installation phase of this project is well underway!
You may have seen notices around the village saying there will be rolling 24 hour road closures to allow for work by the contractors. Residents have understandably been worried that they will not be able to access their properties or that the whole village will be gridlocked. We have been reassured by Openreach that not everything will be closed at once. Access will remain possible for residents and their deliveries; they will either be able to enter the road from the other end or the engineers will pack away their work to allow residents to pass. On rare occasions a specific point may remain closed overnight but the work will be packed away to allow access to properties.
This work is installing the fibre lines to the distribution points in the roads at the north end of the village. A premises distribution point is their nearest telegraph pole or Openreach manhole. The fibre line from there to the building is only installed when the FTTP service is ordered.
Our project team has not been told where work is going on, apart from when the work requires road closures. The most recent update just told us that they are working towards a completion date of the end of April. Openreach’s contractors will be working to install the fibre in many areas of the parish and also the part of Hickstead close to the A23/A2300 junction during March and April.
We have also been assured that the vouchers will be rolled over and remain valid until the system is up and running.
The feedback from those in the Warninglid project is that it can take a few weeks for an individual’s fibre line to be installed once an order has been placed with an internet service provider (ISP) of your choice (e.g. BT, Sky, EE, Zen, etc.). Not all ISPs offer full fibre contracts. (Superfast broadband is fibre to the cabinet and is not full fibre or fttp or ultrafast broadband).
It is possible to find out most ISP’s that do offer full fibre here on comparison sites by pretending that you live in one of the Bolney postcodes that already has full fibre. However some like Zen do not appear on them. These postcodes have fttp:
RH17 5QZ
RH17 5RY
