Get medical care in the European Union

You are entitled to free or reduced-cost state healthcare if you fall ill or have an accident while travelling in a European Union (EU) country.

Important changes

• If you're planning to travel in Europe and are a UK resident, you should apply for an new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

• Each individual traveller now needs their own Card.

Application Forms can be obtained from the Post Office.
