At the end of May, the Parish Council wrote to our MP, Sir Nicholas Soames, to ask for his support in putting pressure on the mobile phone operators regarding coverage in rural areas, and particularly Bolney. We sent him the results of our survey last autumn, which expressed the frustration of residents regarding their reception problems. The letter was copied to the Chief Executive of OFCOM, Sharon White.
Sir Nicholas has just forwarded us a reply from OFCOM in which the need to improve coverage in rural areas was acknowledged. An OFCOM consultation is currently under way, and our letter has been passed to the team conducting this analysis; refined proposals are expected in the autumn.
We shall continue to put pressure on the decision-makers in our efforts to ensure that Bolney and other rural areas will soon benefit from adequate coverage by the mobile providers.
